7th place and 2 points gained! At the head of the field after qualifying session 2, however several unresolved issues remain.

TEAM MUGEN, and driver Naoki Yamamoto, completed the opening race of the 2012 season earning 2 points in the process.
In qualifying Yamamoto finished Q2 in first place and was expected to take the pole position for the second consecutive year at the opening race of Suzuka. However a crash in Q3 resulted in a final qualifying position of 8th place on the grid for the race.
In the race Yamamoto made a successful overtaking move at the notoriously difficult 130R corner, and, with the assistance of some excellent pit work by the Team MUGEN crew, earned 7th place. Post-race several issues remain to be resolved, including driving pace.
