Announcement of the MUGEN “CIVIC TYPE R” Prototype Model

MUGEN (M-TEC Co., Ltd. Tomoyuki Hashimoto president) (hereafter called “MUGEN”) announces a prototype model of the CIVIC TYPE R that is sold by Honda Motor Co., Ltd., with an official release to follow in January 2016.

We are planning a lineup of MUGEN parts for the CIVIC TYPE R that will produce the best TYPE R ever, with a balance of overwhelming performance and dynamic response, and will transform the TYPE R into a new vehicle with a MUGEN look. The aerodynamic parts were developed for the primary purpose of further improving aerodynamic performance, and are based on the expertise that MUGEN has gained from motor sports and on development through repeated wind tunnel trials. For the functional system parts, we have made maximum use of our expertise in developing parts for successive generations of Honda vehicles, and are conducting numerous circuit tests to develop parts that further highlight the CIVIC TYPE R driving performance. For the interior as well, we are planning parts which will produce a more exciting driving experience.

The images released here show the prototype model equipped with parts currently under development. We will release aftermarket parts that have undergone further development at the time of the official release. The official release of MUGEN parts for the CIVIC TYPE R is planned for January 2016, however we are planning to release the sports mat on the MUGEN homepage sometime on or after December 7 (Monday) in advance of the official release.
