MUGEN CIVIC TYPE R Group.B

 

MUGEN Group.B parts for the FL5 Civic Type R have been developed under the concept of “Extreme R”, with the goal of improving driving performance on the circuit. Through thorough analysis-based design, meticulous material selection, and uncompromising quality evaluation and improvement, the entire group of parts has achieved a weight reduction of approximately 38 kg and an increase in downforce approximately three times that of the standard vehicle. Parts that have been completed will be released in sequence.


[Aerodynamics]
《Front》
A carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler is available, designed to maximize aerodynamic performance and reduce weight. Custom-designed brake ducts, radiator ducts, and even the underpanel achieve high levels of weight reduction, cooling efficiency, and aerodynamic performance. Also available are a new carbon fiber aero bonnet and carbon fiber front aero fenders. The carbon fiber aero bonnet optimizes the engine duct placement to improve heat dissipation efficiency and utilizes the airflow from the front grille to generate downforce. The carbon fiber front aero fenders are made entirely of carbon fiber, replacing the factory fenders for reduced weight. Additionally, the angle and width are matched to the bonnet's air outlets for a harmonious design.

《Side》
Carbon fiber side spoilers contribute to weight reduction and downforce. They complement the carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler and carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser, creating a racy side view.

《Rear》
A carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser features a large diffuser shape. Based on aerodynamic analysis, the optimal shape regulates airflow from underneath the vehicle, increasing downforce. Furthermore, an opening at the top of the diffuser releases trapped air inside the rear bumper rearward, simultaneously reducing air resistance. The upper rear also features a carbon fiber rear wing and carbon fiber tailgate spoiler. The carbon fiber rear wing is designed to be wide from tip to rear, with a Gurney flap shape at the rear, balancing the increased downforce from the carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler. The adjustable wing allows for downforce adjustment to suit the driving situation. The carbon fiber tailgate spoiler's ducktail shape minimizes air resistance while significantly contributing to downforce generation. When installed together with the carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler and carbon fiber rear wing, they are designed to achieve ideal front-to-rear balance of downforce.


[Performance Parts]
《Exhaust》
A new sports titanium exhaust system is available. Its custom-developed front pipes, enlarged diameter, improve mid-range torque. Additionally, by using titanium as the base material and stainless steel for the front pipes, and adopting a single center finisher, the system achieves a weight reduction of approximately 8.75 kg compared to the OE exhaust.

《Braking》
A new high-performance brake system has been introduced, designed for use on international circuits. Developed through repeated testing on circuits where brake rotor temperatures approach 900°C, it can deliver superior stopping power along with improved feeling of brake rigidity.

Additionally, a new carbon engine cover and chamber cover have been added. The engine cover features a bold MUGEN metal logo emblem, while the chamber cover features the MUGEN tricolor, bringing the MUGEN racing spirit to the engine bay as well. These are parts befitting the Extreme "R."
