第2回プラクティスセッション

天候の変わりやすいマン島。昨晩遅くから降り続いた雨は午前中には上がり、夜のプラクティスが始まるころには路面はドライへと回復しました。気温も高く理想的なコンディションで2回目のプラクティスセッションを迎えることとなりました。予定では19時35分スタートのTT Zeroクラスのセッションでしたが、コースクローズ前に起きた事故処理のため、全体的にスケジュールが遅れ20時45分からの開始となりました。

今日はマイケル・ルター選手、リー・ジョンストン選手共にスペアバイクでプラクティスセッションに臨みます。ルター選手は、さらなる神電への習熟を目的として臨んだプラクティスでしたが、コース半ば13マイル地点手前で発生したトラブルによりマシンがストップし、残念ながら完走することはできませんでした。チームはすぐにマシンを解析し、原因の究明とその対応を行なっています。

リー・ジョンストン選手は、昨日のセーブモードのプラクティスとは打って変わり、平均速度116.046mph（時速約186km）、ラップタイム19:30.468秒を記録。昨日に比べ2分以上タイムを縮めてのゴール、決勝に向けて期待が高まる結果となりました。

TEAM MUGENが目指す120マイル越えの新記録達成のため、さらにセッティングの精度を高めていく作業を進めていきます。

リー・ジョンストン選手のコメント
初めて神電でマン島TTのコースを1周することができました。特にマウンテン区間は流れるように乗ることができ、最初の1周目から平均速度も116mphまで上げることができました。決勝に向けてさらにタイムを縮めていきたいですね。

宮田監督のコメント
今回のプラクティスで、ルター選手が途中でストップしてしまいました。今はその原因究明が重要な課題となります。しっかりとこの課題をクリアしたうえ、明日への準備をしていきたいと思います。ジョンストン選手は、彼らしさを発揮した走行で完走することが出来ました。明日に向けての課題も明確になっているので、その要望にしっかりと応え、タイムアップに繋がるよう引き続き作業を進めます。

The 2nd practice session
Weather changes dramatically in the Isle of Man. Rain since the last night had stopped by the time when the practice session started, the course got dry. Temperature was also so high that all the conditions were good when the 2nd practice session got started. TT Zero class session was delayed from staring at 7:35PM to 8:45PM due to an accident.

Today Michael Rutter and Lee Johnston tried practice session with spare machines. Michael Rutter had an intention to be more familiar with the machine, however, at the point about 13 miles from the starting point the machine stopped due to some trouble and he regrettably could not complete the session. TEAM MUGEN disassembled the machine in order to investigate the cause of the trouble.

His performance being different from the one in previous practice session, Lee Johnston recorded average speed, 116.046mph (Approx. 186km/h) and lap time of 19:30.468. The lap record was as twice as fast as the one in previous day. The result was quite hopeful for the race.

TEAM MUGEN continues to build up the machines more precisely and accurately to make a new record, over 120mph.

“I could complete the Isle of Man TT course for the first time. Especially at the mountain area I was able to ride flowingly. The speed went up to 116mph from the first one lap. I would like to shorten the lap time more for the race.”

“Michael Rutter stopped on a way. Our current assignment is to find out why the machine stopped. We would like to find the reason and move to tomorrow. Lee Johnston could complete the course with his riding style. Since we do know what he wants for his machine, we would like to fulfill his requests for him to be able to make new lap record."
